Energoatom boosts revenue from electricity sales by over 14% in 2018

The company's share in the Ukrainian electricity market was 53% last year.

State-run enterprise Energoatom, the operator of Ukrainian-based nuclear power plants, boosted revenue from electricity sales by 14.4% in 2018, to UAH 52.68 billion, or US$1.9 billion.

Payments of the wholesale electricity market for energy supplied by Energoatom in 2018 amounted to UAH 50.63 billion (96.1%), or $1.8 billion, according to the company's report.

The overall debt of the state-owned enterprise Energorynok, the operator of Ukraine's wholesale electricity market, before Energoatom as of December 31, 2018, totaled UAH 12.37 billion, or $438 million, taking into account the electricity sold in previous periods.

The company's electricity output was estimated at 84.6 billion kWh in 2018. Energoatom's share in the Ukrainian electricity market was 53% over the period under review.

Ukraine ranks seventh globally in terms of the installed capacity of its nuclear power generating units. Energoatom operates four nuclear power plants across Ukraine with a total of 15 power generating units, all with VVER-type reactors. Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, operating six power units with a total capacity of 6 GW, is Europe's largest.
