Deposits at Ukraine's banks total almost US$32.5 bln both in national and foreign currency

Bank deposits in hryvnias in December 2018 alone grew by 9.4%, while those in foreign currency expanded only by 0.2%.

Bank deposits in the national currency in Ukraine in 2018 grew by 10%, to UAH 539.7 billion (US$19 billion), while deposits in foreign currency shrank by 2.4%, to US$13.4 billion, in the U.S. dollar equivalent.

Bank deposits in hryvnias in December 2018 alone grew by 9.4%, while those in foreign currency expanded only by 0.2%, according to the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) website.

The balance of hryvnia loans in December shrank by 1.1%, whereas it expanded by 7.9% in the 12 months of 2018, to UAH 613.9 billion ($21.8 billion), the regulator said.

The balance of foreign currency loans decreased by 5.1% in December, but it was 4.4% up over the 12 months of 2018, to $16.6 billion in the U.S. dollar equivalent.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the volume of national currency deposits in Ukrainian banks in 2017 rose by 15.1%, to UAH 489.9 billion ($17.4 billion), while foreign currency deposits grew by 2.7%, to $13.7 billion.
