Ukraine boosts electricity exports by almost 20% in past year

Hungary accounted for 58% of electricity sales to foreign customers.

Ukraine boosted electricity exports by 19.36% in 2018 from 2017, to 6.166 billion kWh.

Over the period under review, Ukraine exported about 3.59 billion kWh of electricity to Hungary, which accounted for 58% of electricity sales abroad, 1.4 billion kWh to Poland (23%), and 960 million kWh to Moldova (16%), according to the website of the Ukrainian integrated power grids operator, Ukrenergo.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine saw a 28.6% increase in electricity exports in 2017 against 2016, to 5.166 billion kWh. At the same time, revenue from electricity supplies in 2017 increased by 55%, to $236 million.
