Ukraine sees 1.1% rise in industrial production in 2018

The report does not include data from Russian-occupied territories.

Ukraine saw a 1.1% rise in industrial production in 2018 after a 0.1% decline in 2017.

At the same time, industrial production in December 2018 from December 2017 fell by 2.7% (adjusted by calendar days) and by 3.5% (without such adjustment), the State Statistics Service of Ukraine said on its website.

Industrial production in December 2018 from November 2018 slid by 0.2% (adjusted by calendar days) and by 1.7% (without such adjustment), it said.

Ukraine's chemical industry saw the highest growth in 2018 from 2017 – by 16.5%. The manufacture of vehicles grew by 9.5%, coal production rose by 4%. Furniture production increased by 3.6%, coke and fuel output climbed by 3.3%.

However, the steepest decline in production last year was registered in the manufacture of electric equipment (by 17.8%), textiles (by 4.6%), computers, electronics and optical devices (by 3.7%).

The State Statistics Service said the report does not include data from Russian-occupied areas in Crimea, Sevastopol and parts of Luhansk and Donetsk regions.

As was reported, industrial production in Ukraine in 2017 fell by 0.1% from 2016 when Ukraine saw a 2.8% increase for the first time after a decline for four years in a row (in 2012-2015).
