Sixty-seven wind turbines will be installed along the banks of the Syvash Lake in Kherson region with a total capacity of 250MW.
The Norwegian company NBT, the French company Total Eren and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development have signed an agreement regarding the Syvash project envisaging EUR 150 million in funding for the construction of Ukraine's largest wind power plant that will also become one of the largest WPPs in Europe.
The total cost of the project is nearly EUR 400 million, according to the press service of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, who attended the signing ceremony held in Davos on Wednesday, Jan 23.
The president noted the importance of investment in Ukraine's renewables, adding that the ongoing reform in the country brings real change. "Despite all the circumstances, investors trust Ukraine, investors trust Ukrainians, investors trust the Ukrainian business environment," he said.
In turn, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Suma Chakrabarti stressed that he was proud that the EBRD had joined the signing. "First of all, this shows that Ukraine is open for business, because it has been reforming in the energy sector for several years now and moving towards EU standards. Secondly, Ukraine is going to be a world leader, a regional leader to start with, in the field of renewable energy," he stressed.
“This is the largest windfarm project in Ukraine,” the EBRD President noted.

According to him, Ukraine is the second European market after Greece in terms of investments of Total and NBT. "This shows that foreign investors are returning on the back of reform in Ukraine," he said.
In addition, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Horizon Capital Lenna Koszarny announced the creation of a new fund of $ 200 million for investment in Ukraine. "When we began to raise funds for this, people said it was impossible. We set the target of 150 million and we exceeded it," she said.
"Our success is a success of Ukraine. It sends a powerful signal to the market that Ukraine is attractive to investors," Lenna Koszarny noted.
