NBU gets over US$93.6 mln in repayment of insolvent banks' debt in 2018

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) in 2018 received more than UAH 2.6 billion (US$93.6 million) in repayment of refinancing loans earlier issued to banks that later became insolvent, which was UAH 0.5 billion ($18 million) up from 2017.

In particular, the regulator received UAH 1.238 billion ($44.5 million) from the sale of property rights and UAH 681.6 million ($24.5 million) from the sale of real estate, according to the NBU's website.

Funds were also raised from the redemption of government securities worth UAH 434.8 million ($15.6 million), the acquisition into the NBU's ownership of bank guarantors' property worth UAH 132.3 million ($4.8 million), and the repayment of UAH 154.4 million ($5.6 million) in debt on NBU collateral agreements.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the National Bank in 2017 received UAH 2.1 billion ($75.6 million) in repayment of debts on refinancing loans from insolvent banks.
