Ukraine's State Food Safety and Consumer Protection Service has announced that a European Union mission will evaluate Ukraine's state control system overseeing the production of poultry and products made of it for sale to EU member states.

"The mission of inspectors from the European Commission's Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE) has begun its work. The mission arrived in Ukraine to check the measures taken by the State Food Safety and Consumer Protection Service after a preliminary audit of the state control system related to the production of poultry meat and products made of it, intended for export to the European Union," the Ukrainian agency said in a statement on January 29.
The evaluation mission is to visit Kyiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Volyn, and Cherkasy regions, meet with representatives of the main departments of the State Food Safety and Consumer Protection Service, and get acquainted with the work of a number of enterprises. The mission will draw up a relevant report within a month.
As UNIAN reported earlier, DG SANTE's preliminary mission to audit the state control system related to production of poultry meat and products made of it worked in Ukraine on February 27 to March 9, 2018.
DG SANTE t is responsible for EU policy on food safety and health and for monitoring the implementation of related laws.
