Ukraine's state debt down to 62.7% of GDP – Finance Ministry

As of December 31, government debt amounted to UAH 2.169 trillion, or $78.3 billion.

Ukraine's state and government-guaranteed debt in 2018 decreased in relation to the country's GDP to about 62.7% from 71.8% in 2017, the press service of the Ministry of Finance reported, citing operational estimates.

The finance ministry recalled that, as of December 31, 2018, the state and government-guaranteed debt amounted to UAH 2.169 trillion, or $78.3 billion.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the amount of state and government-guaranteed debt in 2018 increased by $2.02 billion, or 2.6%, to $78.32 billion.

In hryvnia equivalent, the volume of public debt for the period was up by UAH 26.94 billion, or 1.3%, to UAH 2.169 trillion.

On August 22, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a three-year government debt management strategy, suggesting its reduction by the end of 2020 to a level not higher than 49% of GDP and optimization of the debt structure.
