Sunflower oil production in Ukraine increased by 10% since September 1, 2018, when the 2018-2019 marketing year began (MY, September 2018 - August 2019), to 1.9 million tonnes, compared to the figure posted as of January 1, 2018.

"In general, over the four months of the current season, production of sunflower oil was estimated at 1.99 million tonnes against 1.81 million tonnes a year earlier," the UkrAgroConsult agency's press service said in a statement.

Ukraine's large- and medium-sized enterprises in December 2018 produced 525,300 tonnes of sunflower oil, which was 1.5% up from November 2018, and 10.2% higher compared to December 2017.

At the same time, due to the decline in sunflower processing in the past two months, the current marketing year has lost the opportunity to set a new record, having lost 0.2% against a record figure posted in MY 2016-2017, the report said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, sunflower oil output in Ukraine in 2018 decreased by 7.7% to 4.8 million tonnes.

Ukraine in MY 2017-2018 (September 2018 - August 2019) reduced sunflower oil production by 13.6% to 4.6 million tonnes.

In MY 2016-2017, the country boosted the production of sunflower oil to a record 5.3 million tonnes.
