Ukraine's international reserves remain at five-year high

The Central Bank replenished reserves by placing bonds and buying foreign currency on the interbank market.

Ukraine's international reserves as of the beginning of February 2019 remained at a five-year high estimated at $20.8 billion.

The government's debt repayments in foreign currency to the tune of $883.9 million were partially offset by earnings from the placement of government bonds in the amount of $620.7 million, the National Bank of Ukraine said on its website.

Also in January, the National Bank replenished its reserves by purchasing foreign currency in the interbank foreign exchange market to the tune of $136.1 million.

In addition, the value of financial instruments increased by $126.3 million during the month.
