About UAH 200 billion (US$7.4 billion) is required annually to overhaul all Ukrainian roads, the minister said.
Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan says the Cabinet of Ministers is not Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry so it is unable to repair all Ukrainian roads that have not been overhauled for decades.
"Unfortunately, the government is not Hogwarts. We have no magic wand to repair all roads in Ukraine that have not been overhauled for decades. During the tenure of the governments of [Arseniy] Yatsenyuk and [Volodymyr] Groysman, over 7,000 kilometers of roads were rebuilt. They all survive winters in perfect condition," he said during a Q&A hour at the Verkhovna Rada on February 8, as reported by Espresso.

According to the minister, all roads that have been repaired are inspected twice a year.
Furthermore, the government in 2019 allocated funds for emergency repairs of the Odesa-Kyiv and Kyiv-Chop highways.
