Ukrainian Cabinet boasts of lowest level of shadow economy in 10 years

The level of the shadow economy in Ukraine in January-September 2018 was at 32% of the country's gross domestic product, which is 1 percentage point lower year-on-year, that’s according to a report by Ukraine's economy ministry.

“Comparing the indicators of previous periods, it should be noted that 32% is the lowest level in the last 10 years, calculated for the period of nine months of each year," the report says.

The ministry notes such a level of deshadowing of the economy can be considered as one of the criteria for assessing the effectiveness of reforms being implemented and their perception by the population," the Ministry of Economic Development said in a statement.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the level of the shadow economy in Ukraine in the first half of 2018 also amounted to 32% of official GDP.
