The output of motor vehicles in Ukraine rose by 57% in January 2019 year-over-year (y-o-y), to 893 units, due to the assembly of Skoda cars by the Eurocar plant.

Such a positive trend was due to semi-knocked-down [SKD] assembly at Eurocar's plant, which grew by 73%, to 828 cars, the Ukrautoprom Association said on February 11.

"Today, Eurocar is the only enterprise in Ukraine where the production of passenger cars is ongoing," the report said.

At the same time, the production of commercial vehicles fell by over 83.3% y-o-y. A mere five vehicles were manufactured in the first months of 2019 (except for truck manufacturer AutoKrAZ, which, for unexplained reasons, has not provided statistics on truck output since August 2016).

The output of buses over the period under review remained almost unchanged, as 60 buses were manufactured in January 2019 against 59 y-o-y.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the production of motor vehicles in Ukraine declined by 23% in 2018 from 2017, to 6,616 units, according to Ukrautoprom.
