Ukraine budget in January sees UAH 12.3 bln deficit

The state budget of Ukraine in January is reduced to a deficit of UAH 12.3 billion against a UAH 7.9 billion surplus in the same period last year, the finance ministry reports.

The deficit was covered by domestic borrowing, the report says.

In January, the Ministry of Finance placed domestic bonds in the equivalent of UAH 41.7 billion, including government bonds in foreign currency worth $587.4 million and EUR 33.3 million.

Also, the Ministry of Finance recalled that the borrowing initially planned for January under the World Bank’s guarantees in the amount of UAH 17.6 billion was rescheduled for February.
