Poroshenko on GDP growth: Ukraine's highest indicator in past seven years

It is higher than the pre-war figure.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has announced that the growth of Ukraine's gross domestic product in 2018 was 3.4%.

"We have ensured the growth of real gross domestic product over twelve quarters. In 2018, gross domestic product growth was 3.4%, the largest in seven years," he said during a working visit to Kharkiv region.

"Let me draw your attention – it exceeded the pre-war GDP growth level," he said.

Poroshenko also noted that for the first time in five years, the inflation rate for the past year was less than 10%.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said at a government meeting on February 13 that Ukraine's GDP growth in 2018 was 3.2%.

The Cabinet of Ministers predicts Ukraine's GDP will grow by 3% in 2019. The forecast of the National Bank by is 2.5%, that of the International Monetary Fund is 2.7% and the World Bank's estimate is 2.9%. According to the consensus forecast of experts polled by UNIAN, Ukraine's economic growth in 2019 is expected to slow to 2.8%.
