Pace of Ukraine economy growth up to 3.4%

GDP growth against the third quarter, taking into consideration the seasonal factor, was at 1.1%.

Real gross domestic product of Ukraine in the fourth quarter of 2018 accelerated in annual terms from 2.8% a quarter earlier to 3.4%, according to the State Statistics Service.

As reported on the website of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine with reference to the operational estimates, GDP growth in the fourth quarter of 2018 compared to the previous quarter, taking into account the seasonal factor, was at 1.1%.

The index of nominal GDP for the fourth quarter, as well as data on the growth of the Ukrainian economy for 2018, has not yet been released.

Ukraine’s GDP in annual terms has been growing for the twelfth consecutive quarter, and this growth accelerated after a slowdown a quarter earlier.

The data of the State Statistics Service on GDP growth in the fourth quarter of 2018 in annual terms are almost identical to those previously announced by the National Bank (3.3%).

As UNIAN reported earlier, the State Statistics Service estimated Ukraine's GDP growth in 3Q of 2018 in annual terms at 2.8%, in 2Q – at 3.8%, and in 1Q – at 3.1%.

The data of the State Statistics Service for 2018 have not yet been made public. According to estimates of the National Bank, GDP grew 3.3%, while the Ministry of Economic Development said the pace was 3.2%.

President Petro Poroshenko said real GDP growth in 2018 was at 3.4%.

The Cabinet of Ministers predicts Ukraine’s GDP growth in 2019 by 3%, the National Bank – by 2.5%, the International Monetary Fund – by 2.7%, and the World Bank – by 2.9%.

According to the consensus forecast of experts polled by UNIAN, in 2019, Ukraine’s economic growth will slow down to 2.8%.
