Prior to an official signing ceremony, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko announced that the contract to be concluded is worth about UAH 500 million, or US$18.5 million.

"I know that Energoatom President [Yuriy] Nedashkovsky and Turboatom CEO [Viktor] Subbotin will sign a contract worth about UAH 500 million. There will be orders and the money will come to Kharkiv. This is the policy of the state, which will ensure the growth of industrial production, as well as access to the largest market of the European Union," he said on February 14 during a working visit to Kharkiv region.

Other details of the contract are not disclosed.

"Such contracts indicate that Ukraine has taken a major and significant step forward not only in breaking through to foreign markets when Russia imposed an embargo on Ukrainian goods, closed access to Russian markets for our goods, affecting not only those engaged in production, directors and owners of factories, but primarily the working class," he added.

UNIAN memo. Energoatom is Ukraine's largest electricity producer, accounting for about 50% of the country's overall power output. Energoatom is responsible for the safe operation of the country's nuclear power plants.

Turboatom produces steam turbines for thermal power plants (TPP) and nuclear power plants (NPP), as well as hydro turbines for hydro power plants (HPP) and gas turbines for TPP. Turbine production is based on a closed cycle method: from engineering design and research to manufacturing, assembly, testing and shipping.

Kharkiv's enterprise includes two special design bureaus, technological divisions, research laboratories, procurement base, mechanical processing production, as well as facility for testing of power equipment. The State Property Fund of Ukraine owns a 75.22% stake in JSC Turboatom.
