Deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade in goods, services 2.3 times up in 2018

The deficit of foreign trade in commodities over the period under review grew by 1.5 times.

The deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade in goods and services in 2018 was estimated at US$5.826 billion, which was 2.3 times up from the deficit recorded at $2.501 billion in 2017.

Imports of goods and services to Ukraine rose by 14.3%, to $62.945 billion, while exports of goods and services from Ukraine grew by 8.6%, to $57.118 billion, according to the State Statistics Service's website.

The deficit of foreign trade in commodities over the period under review grew by 1.5 times, to $9.801 billion, while the surplus of foreign trade in services rose by 15.5%, to $6.049 billion.

The State Statistics Service said the report does not include data from Russian-occupied areas in Crimea, Sevastopol and parts of Luhansk and Donetsk regions.

As UNIAN reported earlier, according the National Bank of Ukraine, the deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade in goods and services in 2018 totaled $11.492 billion, which was 32.9% up from the deficit recorded at $8.644 billion in 2017.
