Ukraine has sold one of Russian gas giant Gazprom's assets, which have been seized by the Ukrainian authorities in an anti-monopoly case.

A 40.217% stake in private joint-stock company Gaztranzit (Kyiv), formerly owned by the Russian company Gazprom, was sold to the closed non-diversified venture capital investment fund Goldman, Stockworld, a Ukrainian-based news portal about the stock market, said with reference to Gaztransit's message.

Goldman did not own any shares of Gaztranzit prior to the deal.

"According to the PFTS stock exchange, 16,650 shares of Gaztranzit were sold for UAH 41,024,755 [about for US$1.5 million] on January 29," the statement said.

These shares were seized from Gazprom as part of recovering a UAH 172 billion [US$6.34 billion] fine imposed by Ukraine's antitrust agency.

The investment fund Goldman was registered in April 2018, with Andriy Nesterenko as its ultimate beneficiary.

In November 2018, the Supreme Court of Ukraine rejected an appeal of Gazprom against the fine and penalty imposed by the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine in the total amount of UAH 172 billion for abusing the monopoly position on the market for transit shipments of natural gas through Ukraine.
