Chairman of the State Labor Service of Ukraine Roman Chernega says the agency in 2018 recorded most violations in the field of labor remuneration, while wage arrears currently exceed UAH 2.6 billion (US$95.6 million).

"Most violations of labor legislation were traditionally observed in remuneration. That is, citizens turn to State Labor Service and territorial offices asking to clarify the situation and audit their employers. The reason for such appeals lays in violations of salary payments," he told a press conference on February 20.

At the same time, operating enterprises remain principal debtors on wages, according to the official.

At the same time, he says Ukraine's state-run Ukroboronprom Concern, which incorporates major enterprises of the country's military and industrial complex, is the largest wage debtor. It owns its employees about UAH 400 million ($14.7 million) in wages.

As UNIAN reported earlier, wage arrears across Ukraine in December 2018 shrank by 6.2% compared with November 2018, amounting to UAH 2.65 billion ($97.5 million) as of January 1, 2019. At the same time, there has been an 11.7% increase in wage arrears since the beginning of 2018, the State Statistics Service reported.

Delayed wages at operating enterprises were estimated at UAH 1.46 billion ($53.7 million) as of January 1, 2019, which was 10.2% down from the figure reported as of December 1, 2018.
