Ukraine absorbs one-third of World Bank loans – Finance Ministry

The ministry recalled the World Bank's loan portfolio in Ukraine consists of eight loan projects totaling $2.403 billion.

Ukraine has absorbed the World Bank loan funds worth $742.310 million, or 30.89% ot the total amount, as of February 1, 2019.

The indicator improved in 2018 year-on-year as Ukraine utilized $270.78 million or twice as much money as in 2017, according to the Finance Ministry's press service.

The ministry recalled the World Bank's loan portfolio in Ukraine consists of eight projects for a total amount of loans of $2.403 billion.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine is to pay foreign creditors about $179 billion, or $6.1 billion, at the official rate of the National Bank, to repay and service state and government-guaranteed debt in 2019.

To refinance these payments, the Ministry of Finance expects this year to get about $4 billion from external sources, including the World Bank, the European Union, bilateral lending with other countries, and access to external capital markets.
