NABU finds traces of Ukrainian corruption in 65 countries

Detectives of the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) have found traces of Ukrainian corruption in 65 countries.

Most often, cases concerned Latvia, Cyprus, UK, Germany and Switzerland, the NABU press service reports.

Most corruption schemes, especially related to the activities of state enterprises and the implementation of national projects, were carried out with the participation of companies registered abroad.

"These companies usually play the role of intermediaries who retain the lion's share of state-owned companies. Later, the organizers of the schemes legalize these funds and spend them for their own needs, including to finance political projects. NABU detectives look into these details during pre-trial investigations," the report says.

NABU detectives have sent about 500 requests to the competent authorities of other states to clarify circumstances of commission of corruption-related crimes, which damaged the interests of Ukraine.
