The EU’s share in the overall structure of Ukrainian exports has already reached 42.6%, rapidly approaching 50%.
In 2018, Ukrainian exports to the European Union have reached new highs, according to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
“The share of the European Union in the overall structure of Ukrainian exports has already reached 42.6% and is rapidly approaching 50%. Imagine, 50% of Ukrainian exports go to the world's largest, most reliable, and richest market of the EU. This is no promise – this is what we have already done. In 2018, we sold more goods to the European Union than ever before in Ukrainian history,” Poroshenko said, addressing the meeting of the Regional Development Council of Lviv region on Saturday.
He noted that the signing of Association Agreement with the European Union, including a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement, which Russia tried to prevent by all means possible, played an important role in the recovery of economic growth and the revival of international trade.

“Russia has thrown hundreds of millions of dollars, deployed spies from their Main Intelligence Directorate and the Foreign Intelligence Service to block that ratification. We saw Russian traces in every European country. We saw how this happened on the example of the referendum in the Netherlands, the statements of legislators from many European countries, but this did not stop us. We have set a big goal: Ukraine should return to the big family of European nations. Yes, it took more than one year, it was almost three, but each of the then 28 member states ratified the Agreement, and this is a great victory for our diplomats, as well as our friends and partners in the European Parliament, the European Union, the European Commission and the European Parliament,” said the president.
