Industrial output in Ukraine down by 13.8% in Jan

In annual terms, the decline in industrial output last month slowed down to 3.3%.

Industrial output in January fell by 13.8% against December 2018, that's without taking into account the adjustment for the calendar day effect, and by 0.5% - with taking it into account, according to the State Statistics Service.

In annual terms, industrial output last month slowed down to 3.3%, excluding adjustments for the calendar day effect, after 3.5% recorded a month earlier.

According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, taking into account the effect on calendar days, the decline in industrial production in January accelerated in annual terms to 2.9% from 2.7% a month earlier.

The largest drop in January was recorded in annual terms in production of electrical equipment (56%), chemical industry (14.9%), and mechanical engineering (11.9%).

The largest growth was recorded in the extraction of hard and brown coal (16.2%), production of computers, electronic, and optical products (13.1%), and pharmaceuticals (6.6%).

The State Statistics Service recalled that the data are provided excluding the occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, as well as those in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

As UNIAN reported earlier, industrial output in Ukraine in 2018 increased by 1.1% after falling by 0.1% in 2017.
