Kyivstar boosts net revenue by 13.2% in 2018

However, the number of the operator's subscribers in 2018 decreased by 0.5% against 2017, to 26.4 million.

Ukraine's largest mobile operator Kyivstar in 2018 increased its net revenue by 13.2% from 2017, to UAH 18.719 billion (US$692.8 million).

The company's revenue from the provision of mobile services in 2018 grew by 13.6%, to UAH 17.421 billion ($644.7 million), while that from landline services rose by 6.5%, to UAH 1.206 billion ($44.6 million), the operator's press service said on February 25.

However, the company has not reported its net profit received over the period under review.

Kyivstar's net revenue in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2018 stood at UAH 6 billion ($222 million), which was 16.6% up year-over-year (y-o-y). At the same time, revenue from the provision of mobile services in Q4 2018 increased by 17.2%, to UAH 4.671 billion ($172.9 million), whereas those from landline services grew by 9.1%, to UAH 311 million ($11.5 million).

The operator's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization, or EBITDA, in 2018 increased by 14.2%, to UAH 10.529 billion ($389.7 million). At the same time, EBITDA margin rose by 0.5 percentage points, to 56.2%, the report said.

In October-December 2018, the company's EBITDA increased by 12% y-o-y, to UAH 2.793 billion ($103.4 million), while EBITDA margin dropped by 2.3 percentage points, to 55.8%.

The number of Kyivstar subscribers in 2018 was 26.4 million, which was 0.5% down from 2017. At the same time, the number of landline users rose by 11%, to 900,000.

Average revenue per user (ARPU) last year increased by 18.2%, to UAH 58 ($2.1), while the MoU indicator (average monthly number of "minutes of use") fell by 0.1%, to 584 minutes.

The company's total capital expenditures in 2018 increased by 18.4%, to UAH 3.1 billion ($114.7 million), the press service said.

The investment was mainly channeled into the development of 4G and the improvement of the quality of services, the report said.

Kyivstar also transferred over UAH 10.5 billion ($388.6 million) to the national budget in the past year, the company added.
