PM Groysman, EC Vice-President discuss terms of second EUR 500 mln tranche

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman and Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis have discussed conditions of the second tranche of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine under the program of cooperation with the European Union.

"As part of the negotiations, the parties, among other things, touched upon the progress of reforms in Ukraine and the subsequent implementation of the Fourth Program of Macro-Financial Assistance. Ukraine received the first tranche under the program last December. And now meeting the conditions for the second tranche worth EUR 500 million is on the agenda," the Cabinet's press service said in a statement on February 28.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the European Council in the summer of 2018 approved the fourth package of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of EUR 1 billion. The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, ratified the Memorandum of Understanding and the agreement between Ukraine and the European Union on up to EUR 1 billion in macro-financial assistance on November 8, 2018.

In December 2018, the European Commission provided Ukraine with the first tranche of the fourth package of macro-financial assistance: EUR 500 million at par was lent at an interest rate of 1.25% per annum until April 2033.
