Preventive maintenance works are expected to last 63 calendar days.
The state-run operator of Ukrainian-based nuclear power plants, Energoatom, on March 6, will disconnect power unit No. 2 at Rivne Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP) in Ukraine's Rivne region.
A scheduled 63-day preventative maintenance works have been announced.
"It is planned to carry out major repairs. In particular, to increase the density of the reactor leak-tight enclosure system and to eliminate qualification concerns regarding the equipment's ability to withstand seismic effects as well as to check seismic resistance of pipelines," company's press service said on March 5.

It is noted that within the Comprehensive (Integrated) Safety Improvement Program for Operating Nuclear Power Units at the Ukrainian NPPs, the safety system's accumulators at unit 2 will be upgraded.
As reported, a network schedule for repairs has been developed and approved, responsible persons have been appointed, and material and technical resources have been determined. The personnel of the operational workshops and the RNPP's repair teams are ready to fulfill their tasks.

The plant operates four power units with a total capacity of 2.835 GW: unit No. 1 (VVER-440) with a capacity of 420 MW since 1980, unit No. 2 (VVER-440) of 415 MW since 1981, unit No. 3 (VVER-1000) of 1 GW since 1986, and unit No. 4 (VVER-1000) of 1 GW since 2004.
