Cabinet decides not to extend contract with Naftogaz CEO Kobolyev, announces competition

Groysman said the government would seek from the company's supervisory board recommendations on the terms of the new contract to be signed with the future head of the board.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has said the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided not to extend the contract with Naftogaz CEO, Chairman of the Executive Board Andriy Kobolyev, and announces a new competition for this position.

"We have made a decision to announce an open and public competition from March 23 with the participation of international partners to the position of the head of the board of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine," he said at a government meeting on Wednesday, adding the term of Kobolyev's contract ends on March 22.

The government would seek from the company's supervisory board recommendations on the terms of the new contract to be signed with the future head of the board, Groysman added.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers on January 16 announced the suspension of contracts with Naftogaz's current management from March 22. The Cabinet also appealed to the company's supervisory board regarding the revision of conditions for the payment of salaries and bonuses to its managers.

On February 28, the Supervisory Board of the National Joint-Stock Company Naftogaz of Ukraine decided to extend the contract with Naftogaz CEO, Chairman of the Executive Board Andriy Kobolyev and set his monthly salary at UAH 2.08 million (US$77,094).

Later the same day, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said that the government had not taken any decisions on concluding a new contract with Kobolyev.
