USDA revises upwards forecast for maize exports from Ukraine in MY 2018-2019

The forecast for maize production remained at 35.5 million tonnes.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has revised upwards its forecast for maize exports from Ukraine in the 2018-2019 marketing year (MY, July 2018 - June 2019) by 500,000 tonnes, to 29 million tonnes, according to a March report.

However, the forecast for maize production in the 2018-2019 marketing year remained at the level of the forecast released in February, which was 35.5 million tonnes.

In addition, the forecast of export and production of barley in Ukraine in MY 2018-2019 also remained at the level of the February projections, namely 4.2 million tonnes and 7.4 million tonnes, respectively.

As UNIAN reported, Ukraine exported 39.375 million tonnes of grain in the 2017-2018 marketing year (MY, July 2017 - June 2018), according to preliminary data. The harvest of grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine in 2018 was record high, totaling 70.1 million tonnes.
