Exports exceed imports: Ukraine sells goods worth $4 billion in January

Ukrainian goods exports in January 2019 grew by 9.2% compared with January 2018, exceeding $4 billion.

The surplus amounted to $20.9 million, according to the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.

Most of all, in January 2019, Ukraine exported non-precious metals and products made from them (worth $1.1 billion), products of plant origin ($1 billion), as well as fats and oils ($350 million).

“Exports to EU countries also grew by 6.1% and amounted to $1.8 billion. The European Union remains our main trading partner with a share of 44.6% of the total volume of trade in goods,” the report says.

The Ministry of Economic Development added that foreign trade transactions were carried out with partners from 193 countries.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the balance of foreign trade in goods and services of Ukraine for 2018 was reduced with a deficit of $11.492 billion, which is 32.9% more than the deficit for 2017 ($8.644 billion).
