Ukraine sees 16% decline in sugar exports in Feb

Azerbaijan accounted for 25% of total shipments of Ukrainian sugar abroad in February.

Ukraine saw a 16% decline in sugar exports in February 2019 from January 2019, to 34,300 tonnes.

"Ukrainian producers exported 34,300 tonnes of sugar in February. This is 16% less than in the previous month," according to the press service of the National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine "Ukrtsukor."

Sugar exports from the beginning of the current marketing year, which started in September 2018, totaled 274,000 tonnes, which is 6% less year-over-year.

Azerbaijan accounted for 25% of total shipments of Ukrainian sugar abroad in February. The share of Great Britain was 18%, while that of Kirgizia and Israel was about 13% each.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine in the sugar refining season in MY 2018-2019 reduced sugar production by 15%, to 1.7 million tonnes.

According to the Fiscal Service, Ukraine in 2018 reduced sugar exports by 2.4%, to 584,800 tonnes.
