Inspections of Vinnytsia, Volyn and Kyiv regional gas companies, owned by Ukrainian businessman Dmytro Firtash, have confirmed the illegality of additional accrual of gas volumes to household consumers using coefficients.

"The audits at three regional gas companies, namely in Vinnytsia, Volyn and Kyiv regions, have confirmed the illegality of additional accrual of gas volumes to household consumers using coefficients," the press service of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine wrote on Facebook.

The National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC) will on March 22 hold a meeting on where a decision may be taken on imposing a penalty onviolators and obliging them to recalculate bills for all household consumers.

Naftogaz predicts the regional gas companies will challenge the NEURC's decision in courts.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in March, NEURC began inspecting eight gas distribution system operators in Ukraine on the fact of excessive amounts in payments for gas for the population at the end of last year.

Violators may get a maximum fine of UAH 850,000 (US$31,284).
