Canada extends sanctions against Yanukovych, team

The Government of Canada announced the decision to extend sanctions against the disgraced ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and his entourage.

The sanctions will be valid for the next five years, until March 2024, according to the Canadian government's official gazette.

The black list includes Viktor Yanukovych, former PM Mykola Azarov, Raisa Bogatyreva, Andriy and Serhiy Kliuyevs, Olena Lukash, Andriy Portnov, Viktor Pshonka, and others.

The sanctions provide for the freezing of all assets located in Canada.

Also, Canadian citizens, regardless of their place of residence, are prohibited from entering into property relations with persons subject to sanctions.

At the same time, Canada lifted restrictions off the deceased younger son of Mr Yanukovych as well as a former top security official Ihor Kalinin.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the European Union extended for another 12 months its sanctions against ex-President Viktor Yanukovich and 12 people from his entourage for the misappropriation of state funds.
