Ukraine imports natural gas worth $57 mln in January

Swiss-registered companies supplied the largest batches of gas to Ukraine.

Ukraine in January 2019 imported 188.3 million cubic meters (mcm) of natural gas totaling $56.8 million, according to the State Statistics Service.

Swiss-registered companies supplied 76.4 mcm of natural gas worth US$22.2 million and companies from Poland supplied 36.5 mcm worth US$10.6 million.

Ukraine bought 26.6 mcm worth US$7.5 million from Germany, 19.1 mcm worth US$6.8 million from Austria, 15.2 mcm worth US$5.5 million from Luxembourg, and 14.5 mcm worth US$4.2 million from Hungary.

As UNIAN reported, Ukraine in 2018 imported 10.39 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas totaling US$3.12 billion. At the end of November 2015, Ukraine stopped buying natural gas from Russia's Gazprom. In total, in 2015, Ukraine doubled imports of natural gas from Europe compared to 2014, to 10.3 bcm, while purchases of hydrocarbons from the Russian Federation more than halved.

Ukraine imported 11.1 bcm of gas in 2016 and 13.9 bcm in 2017 from the EU alone. The total cost of imported gas in 2017 amounted to US$3.228 billion.
