EU allocates EUR 104 mln for insulation of apartment blocks in Ukraine

In general, the national budget has laid down UAH 1.6 billion for the Energy Efficiency Fund.

The European Union has allocated EUR 104 million for the implementation of programs to improve the energy efficiency of Ukraine's housing stock, according to coordinator of the energy sector of the EU Delegation in Ukraine, Olha Borodankova.

The official spoke at the ceremony to sign a tripartite agreement between the Energy Efficiency Fund of Ukraine, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and Ukrgasbank on the launch of a program to finance insulation projects for associations of co-owners of apartment buildings.

“As part of the implementation of an energy efficiency program in residential buildings, the European Union has allocated EUR 104 million. Today, this is the largest amount of existing programs being implemented by the European Union in Ukraine, which indicates how open the EU is to providing assistance to Ukraine,” Borodankova said.

She noted that the EU is ready to further support the citizens of Ukraine, who are “willing to change their consumer habits” toward the introduction of energy-efficient measures.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Public Utilities of Ukraine Hennady Zubko, who also attended the event, said that in general, UAH 1.6 billion was allocated in the state budget for financing the Energy Efficiency Fund.
