Moscow seeks talks with Ukraine on the resumption of direct flights between the two countries.

"Rosaviatsia", the Russian aviation agency, proposes holding negotiations with Ukraine on the resumption of air transportation between the countries, Interfax reports.

"In response to the prohibition of direct chartered flights between our countries, we're offering the Ukrainian authorities to conduct negotiations and resume air traffic on a regular and charter basis between Russia and Ukraine in full," the statement said.

"We are confident that such a decision is in the interests of our peoples and air passengers," Rosaviatsia noted.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on April 3, 2019, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine imposed a ban on chartered flights between Ukraine and Russia, with the exception of those required by missions of the United Nations, the Red Cross, and the Organization for Security Cooperation of Europe.

The move comes following a Moscow visit of presidential candidate Yuriy Boyko and Vladimir Putin's crony Viktor Medvedchuk where the two met Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
