Ukraine boosts grain exports by 20% since July 1, 2018

Ukrainian agribusinesses exported 38.6 million tonnes of grain from July 1, 2018, the start of the 2018-2019 marketing year (MY), to April 9, 2019, which was 20% up from the figure reported as of April 9, 2018.

In particular, wheat shipments from Ukraine fell by 7.6%, to 13.3 million tonnes, including 8.6 million tonnes of food-grade wheat and over 4.7 million tonnes of forage wheat, the State Food Safety and Consumer Protection Service's press center said.

In addition, Ukrainian farmers exported more than 3.2 million tonnes of barley, which was 20% down from the figure as of April 9 of MY 2017-2018. At the same time, maize exports rose by more than 1.6 times, to 21.4 million tonnes.

Oilseeds exports over the period under review stood at 3.9 million tonnes, which was 13.3% down against the figure as of April 9, 2018, it said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian agribusinesses in MY 2017-2018 exported 39.9 million tonnes of grain, according to the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry.
