Pork exports from Ukraine plunge by 33.4% in Jan-March

At the same time, exports of poultry and by-products from Ukraine grew by 38.5%.

Ukrainian enterprises in January-March 2019 exported 316 tonnes of pork, which was 33.4% down year-over-year (y-o-y), while the exports in monetary terms decreased by the same figure, to US$702,000.

Meanwhile, pork imports into Ukraine over the period under review grew by 3.1 times, to 7,400 tonnes, while the imports in monetary terms rose by 3.3 times, to $13.5 million, according to customs statistics reports posted by Ukraine's State Fiscal Service (SFS) on its website.

At the same time, the SFS reported a 38.5% increase in exports of poultry and by-products from Ukraine for the reporting period, to 103,500 tonnes, while the shipments onto foreign markets in monetary terms grew by 31.2%, to $146.9 million.

Shipments of these products from abroad in the first three months totaled 30,600 tonnes, which was 0.6% down y-o-y. The imports of poultry and by-products in monetary terms were $12.3 million.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine in 2018 reduced pork exports by over 33.4%, while boosting poultry shipments abroad by 21%.
