Cash in circulation outside banks in Ukraine shrinks by 5.3% since year-start

Money supply decreased by 0.2% in March alone.

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) says cash in circulation outside the country's banking system has shrunk by 5.3% since the beginning of 2019.

However, cash in circulation outside banks in March alone grew by 0.4%, to UAH 344.4 billion (US$12.9 billion), the regulator said on its website on April 10.

Money supply (the monetary aggregate M3) decreased by 0.2% in March alone and by 2% from the year-start, to UAH 1.253 trillion ($46.8 billion).

The monetary base expanded by 0.1% in March. However, it has shrunk by 2.8% since the beginning of 2019, to UAH 423.7 billion ($15.8 billion), it said.

UNIAN memo. Money supply in Ukraine in 2018 grew by 5.6% to UAH 1.276 trillion ($47.7 billion), while the monetary base increased by 9.2%, to UAH 435.8 billion ($16.3 billion).
