Privatbank's clients buy US$8.9 mln, EUR 2.3 mln online in 10 days of April

Clients of PrivatBank, the largest bank in Ukraine, bought US$8.9 million and EUR 2.3 million via the bank's online service in the first 10 days of April.

The average amount of online currency purchases stood at $179, while that of sales at $117, it said.

The bank also established new non-cash rates for online foreign currency purchases and card payments in foreign online stores, which are more profitable than in the bank's branches.

For example, today, April 11, U.S. dollars are sold at the bank's offices at UAH 27.05 per dollar, while via online service it would be UAH 27.027.

UNIAN memo. Law of Ukraine "On Currency and Currency Transactions", which lifts about 30 restrictions on the country's forex market, came into effect on February 7. In particular, it allows individuals to purchase currency online.

On the first day of the new law, Ukrainians bought about US$4 million online. But in the following days, the hype significantly decreased.

 In general, Ukrainian citizens in February sold $63.4 million more in cash foreign currency through the banking system than they bought. However, in March, their purchases of foreign currency exceed the sales by $77.3 million.
