Trade between Ukraine and CIS countries in the first three months of 2019 fell by 5%, to $4.3 billion.
Trade between Ukraine and the European Union in the first quarter of 2019 (Q1) grew by 6% year-over-year (y-o-y), to US$11.149 billion.

At the same time, Ukrainian exports to the EU rose by 3% over the period under review, to $5.240 billion, while imports from the EU increased by 9% to $5.909 billion, according to the State Statistics Service's website.
Trade between Ukraine and members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in the three months of 2019 fell by 5%, to $4.3 billion y-o-y. In particular, exports to the CIS countries decreased by 6%, to $1.515 billion, while imports shrank by 4%, to $2.785 billion.
In general, Ukraine's trade in goods in Q1 2019 increased by 8% to $25.937 billion. Namely, exports grew by 7%, to $12.272 billion, while imports rose by 8%, to $13.666 billion.
UNIAN memo. The National Bank of Ukraine estimates the deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade in goods and services in 2018 at $11.492 billion, which was 32.9% up from the deficit reported in 2017.
The State Statistics Service in turn estimates the deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade in goods and services in 2018 at $5.826 billion, which was 2.3 times up from the deficit recorded in 2017 at $2.501 billion.
