Ukraine, World Bank discussing new guarantee – finance minister

According to the finance minister, representatives of the lender noted the effectiveness of joint efforts to accelerate the sample of funds for international lending.

Ukrainian Finance Minister Oksana Markarova has said the ministry is discussing the new guarantee with the World Bank.

"During the meeting with [World Bank Regional Vice President] Cyril Muller and the World Bank's team, we have discussed the program of borrowing until the end of the year under the new guarantee, on the structuring of which we have already begun working, as well as a number of projects in education, infrastructure and agriculture," Markarova wrote on Facebook, referring to the results of the meeting held in Washington.

According to the finance minister, representatives of the lender noted the effectiveness of joint efforts to accelerate utilization of funds from international lenders.

"The number of people in the hall was directly proportional to the interest in the projects of Ukraine, we had to arrange for more chairs," Markarova added.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in December 2018, the World Bank approved the provision to Ukraine of a $750 million financial guarantee.

Under the guarantee, Ukraine in December attracted to the state budget a total of EUR 349.3 million, as well as EUR 529 million in March 2019.
