Ukraine reduces wheat flour exports by 23% in Q1

China, the United Arab Emirates and Singapore were major buyers.

The Ukrainian Food Export Board (UFEB) says wheat flour exports from Ukraine in January-March 2019 (Q1) shrank by 23% year-over-year (y-o-y) to 84,200 tonnes.

"In the first quarter of this year, Ukrainian companies exported 84,200 tonnes of wheat flour to foreign markets, which was 23%, or 25,400 tonnes, less than during the same period last year," the UFEB's press service said on April 17.

According to experts, the major buyers of Ukrainian wheat flour over the period under review were China with a 15.6% share in the total export structure, the United Arab Emirates (14.4%), and Singapore (12.2%).

In January-February 2019, the total flour production in Ukraine fell by 12.4% y-o-y, to 141,000 tonnes, the press service added.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in the 2017-2018 marketing year (MY, July 2017-June 2018), the shipments of Ukrainian flour abroad totaled 412,600 tonnes.
