"It [the construction of the Kyiv-Odesa highway] is not a one-year project. It is also about money. The highway requires at least US$1 billion. Therefore, we are in talks with international financial organizations to raise additional funds," he said during an inspection tour of highways on April 23.

The prime minister says UAH 2.5 billion, or US$93.353 million, will be allocated for the said project from financial organizations next year.

According to Groysman, Ukrainian taxpayers' money (the Road Fund) and funds from international financial organizations are now spent on the construction of roads in Ukraine.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Ukrainian government in February 2019 allocated an additional UAH 550 million (US$20.5 million) for road repairs, including UAH 300 million (US$11.2 million) for overhauling the Kyiv-Chop highway and UAH 250 million (US$9.3 million) for repairing the road from Kyiv to Odesa.

CEO of the Ukravtodor Automobile Road Agency Slawomir Nowak expects that the Altcom company, which won a tender in 2013 to overhaul the M05 Kyiv-Odesa highway, will complete the project this year.
