Industrial output in Ukraine grows by 2.1 % in March

Manufacture of furniture and other commodities showed the highest growth.

Industrial output in Ukraine grew by 2.1% in March 2019 year-over-year (y-o-y) without taking into account the adjustment for the calendar day effect, after a 1.8% fall in February 2019 y-o-y.

The growth in industrial output in March 2019, with the calendar day adjustment, accelerated to 2.7% y-o-y after a 1.8% decline in February 2019 y-o-y, the Ukrainian State Statistics Service said on its website.

Industrial production grew by 12% in March 2019 from February 2019, with calendar day effect excluded, while rising 2.4% with the corresponding adjustment.

The steepest decline in March 2019 y-o-y was recorded in production of electrical equipment (by 19.2%), textile industry (by 10.3%), supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (by 8.1%), and coke and fuel output (by 3.8%).

The highest industrial production increase in the third month of 2019 was registered in manufacture of furniture and other commodities, as well as repairs and installation of machinery (by 12.9%), the production of rubber and plastic goods, as well as non-metallic mineral products (by 12.4%), and steelmaking industry, except machinery and equipment (by 8.9%).

In January-March 2019, industrial output in Ukraine decreased by 0.9% y-o-y, whereas it rose by 2.9% in the first quarter of 2018 y-o-y.

The report does not include information from temporarily occupied areas in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, and certain areas in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, it said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, industrial output in Ukraine in 2018 grew by 1.1% from 2017 when Ukraine saw a 0.1% fall.
