At the trilateral negotiations on gas transit, scheduled for late May, Ukraine, together with the European Union, will offer Gazprom an option where the Russian side books for a long period of time a 60 bcm per year capacity of the Ukrainian gas transmission system, that's according to Yuriy Vitrenko, Naftogaz CCO.

"The position is as follows: Gazprom should book for a long period, approximately 10 years, 60 billion cubic meters per year on average... At the same time, Ukraine will provide capacity at 90 billion cubic meters per year. 30 bcm will be free capacity, which will be available for booking by other companies," said Vitrenko.

He noted that, according to preliminary calculations, such an agreement would allow Ukraine to retain revenues from transit at $3 billion.

Tripartite negotiations on gas transit after 2019 were held in Brussels on January 21.
