Ukraine's National Bank fines five banks in April

The reaction came following anti-laundering inspections.

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) fined five banks in April following the inspections on countering money laundering.

The regulator fined MTB Bank for UAH 4.35 million (US$163,410), RVS Bank for UAH 3 million (US$112,697), Alpari Bank for UAH 2 million (US$75,131) for carrying out risky operations in the field of financial monitoring, as reported on the NBU website.

The regulator also fined Vostok Bank for deficiencies in financial monitoring for UAH 300,000 (US$11,269) and the Settlement center for servicing contracts in financial markets controlled by the National Bank of Ukraine for UAH 200,000 (US$7,513).

As UNIAN reported, the National Bank of Ukraine in the first quarter of 2019 fined six banks for violation of legislation in the field of financial monitoring.
