Ukrtransnafta says ready to resume oil transit to EU

The operator of the Ukrainian oil transmission system, the state-owned Ukrtransnafta, has announced its readiness to resume the transit of Russian oil to the European Union.

"Today, on May 6, 2019, through the dispatching service of Ukrtransnafta JSC, a telegram was sent on our readiness to resume oil transit through the Druzhba pipeline," the company said.

It is also noted that at 14:17 Kyiv time, high-quality oil from the linear production dispatching station "Mozyr" began to flow into the Druzhba pipeline system in the Ukrainian direction.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on April 19, Gomeltransneft Druzhba informed Ukrtransnafta on the receipt of oil from the technological section of the Transneft Druzhba oil pipeline with deteriorated quality indicators.

On April 22, Ukrtransnafta strengthened its oil quality control measures, and on April 25, it forcedly suspended the transit of oil through the Mozyr-Brody pipeline.

The company made such a decision, guided by an agreement on the provision of oil transmission services through the territory of Ukraine. According to the terms of the agreement, Ukrtransnafta Is entitled to halting the intake of Russian oil if raw materials fail not meet quality indicators.

On April 26, the press service of Ukrtransnafta said that during the negotiations of the operators of the Druzhba oil transmission system, Russian representatives pledged to resume the transit of high-quality oil from May 3.
