Imports of petroleum products to Ukraine rise since year-start

Russian petroleum products took up some 43% of imports costs.

In January-April 2019, Ukraine has imported petroleum products worth US$1.587 billion, which is 20% more than in the same period last year, the State Fiscal Service reports.

The agency says imports of petroleum products from Russia in monetary terms amounted to $684 million (43%), from Belarus it was $575.6 million (36.2%), and from Lithuania - at $164 million (10.3%).

Over the reporting period, petroleum products worth $163 million were imported from other countries.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Russia has restricted the exports of Russian oil and petroleum products to Ukraine. Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev said that such goods as fuel and energy products, including coal, oil, and petroleum products, from June 1 this year shall be exported to Ukraine only based on individual permits.

In 2018, forex expenditures on imports of petroleum products increased by 31%, to $5.5 billion.
