Ukrainian businessman Ihor Kolomoisky supports Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Yakiv Smolii's further work as chief banker, thus backing a recent statement by President-elect Volodymyr Zelensky that Smolii should remain in office.

"And why not, let him remain. Let [First Deputy Governor of the NBU] Kateryna Rozhkova be dismissed... She is not a person of principle. She just discredited herself in case with Platinum Bank. So, what's that got to do with me? She should have been jailed before the [nationalization of] PrivatBank [in December 2016]," he told the RBC Ukraine media outlet on May 10, adding that he had been in excellent relations with her before.

Also, Kolomoisky does not rule out that incumbent Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov might be appointed prime minister of Ukraine.

He also forecasts which forces may create a coalition in the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, after autumn elections, adding that Zelensky's Sluha Narodu (Servant of the People) Party would not agree to an alliance with members of the former Party of Regions, a pro-Russia political party in Ukraine.

"[The party will join hands] with normal people, not with traitors who go to Moscow for consulting. There shouldn't be any compromise in here. If it doesn't work out, then we'll arrange another election. Everything will be tough," he stressed.
